Rodman Ride For Kids

The Rodman Ride for Kids is an umbrella matching gift charity raising funds for youth-focused social service agencies that support at-risk kids in Massachusetts. The Rodman Ride is an important fundraiser for the DCF Kids Fund as well as a number of additional local charities. The DCF Kids Fund’s goal is to raise $300,000 through participation in the 2011 Rodman Ride. All expenses associated with the Ride event (less than 3%) are underwritten, and once we reach our goal we receive a 10% match; 110% of your donation will directly benefit the DCF Kids Fund.

Please consider offering a financial donation to support the DCF Kids Fund’s participation in the 2012 Rodman Ride For Kids event, to take place Saturday, September 29th in Foxboro.

The annual event benefits many children’s charities, including the DCF Kids Fund. This is the 22nd year of the Rodman Ride and the 9th year that the DCF Kids Fund is participating.

The DCF Kids Fund is a non-profit 501c3 charity created in 1998 to serve as a support system for abused and neglected children in the care of the Massachusetts Department of Children and Families (DCF). The DCF Kids Fund’s goal is to raise $300,000 through our participation in the 2012 Rodman Ride. In 2011, we raised $200,000. However, to meet the needs of the thousands of children we serve across Massachusetts, we must raise the bar and aim for the higher goal of doubling what we raised last year.

Currently, our agency is serving 40,000 plus children including 8,000 children in foster care; 2,000 children in residential care; and many thousands of others living with their families who are receiving services from our agency. We have 29 Department of Children and Families area offices across the state.

The funds we raise through our participation in the 2012 Rodman Ride For Kids are vital to the DCF Kids Fund’s being able to continue to provide these thousands of children with programs so vital to their lives.

The Kids Fund programs include: Foster Children’s Summer Campership Drive; Foster Children’s Emergency Placement Program (to provide clothing, toiletries, duffel bags, safety car seats for children entering foster care in emergencies); Children’s Holiday Gift Drive; and our Enrichment/Educational Initiative (making it possible for foster children to participate in sports, music, SAT classes, etc.), among others.

With reductions to the agency’s budget and financial hardships many of our families face, the DCF Kids Fund is being increasingly relied upon to provide these very important programs for these thousands of children. When a child gets to play on a sports team, take music lessons, receive SAT or tutoring, attend summer camp to build skills in many areas, we are helping the child to reach toward his or her full potential. Especially for these children who are all facing very difficult life circumstances, these enrichment opportunities pave the way for a better today and a more hopeful tomorrow for each and every child.

Rodman Ride For Kids is an umbrella matching gift charity that raises funds for youth-focused social service agencies that support at-risk children in Massachusetts. All expenses associated with the Ride event (less than 3 %) are underwritten, so 100% of your donation will directly benefit the DCF Kids Fund. In addition, the Rodman Ride organization will match your donation by 10%, which will help The DCF Kids Fund even more in our efforts to provide important and beneficial programs to the very needy children in DCF care. This is a rare opportunity for 110% of your gift to go directly to helping children.
